The link between the user and the structure

Lanyards must allow a worker to move about with a maximum of security without getting in the way. There are two principal uses for lanyards:

Restraint and work positioning lanyards are used with a work positioning harness. They are designed to limit movement or for hands free work while in position.

Energy absorbing lanyards are part of a fall arrest system. Energy absorbing lanyards should be used only after checking that there is adequate clearance under the user.
